This is a poster with the work Naissance d’une Galaxie (1969) by the German artist Max Ernst. He was a leading figure in both the Dada movement and Surrealism, experimenting with and mastering countless genres and techniques. Ernst’s painting dates from the year of the moon landing, 1969 and was on loan for Louisiana’s exhibition The Moon – From Inner Worlds to Outer Space in 2018. The exhibition showcased around 150 works centered on the moon as one of culture’s great motifs, creating a multifaceted portrait of Earth’s natural satellite through art, film, music, literature, cultural artifacts, design, architecture, natural science, and astronomy.
